Race 25 – Position 21

Despite setting top 15 times in the early stages of the session, Holdsworth qualified P21 when broken power steering rack sat the Number 18 on the sidelines in the final crucial minutes.
In front of a crowd of 206,755 people, Holdsworth began the Race from the 11th Row and moved into P19 by the second lap. Holdsworth held his position until he pitted for the first time, swapping with Bright who rejoined in P17.
Bright moved up to P15 before the Safety Car was deployed, with the team making a call to Pit at the right time and have the #18 rejoin in P12. Bright reported issues with the Number 18 Commodore at the 80 lap-mark and the team was forced to bring the car into the garage to repair the transmission and check an engine misfire.
The team worked extremely quickly and was able to return Holdsworth to the track four laps down in P23. Holdsworth crossed the line in P21 as other drivers in front did not finish.
Jason Bright:
“DISAPPOINTING AFTER A TOUGH WEEKEND, THE RACE WAS GOING ALONG REASONABLY WELL FOR THE FIRST COUPLE OF STINTS AND THE CAR HAD TOP 10 PACE. AT THE END OF MY FIRST STINT I GOT THE MISFIRE AND IT WAS STRUGGLE UNTIL WE CHANGED THE SENSOR.”
